A useful fit for

A candidate for a camper seeking an integrated-screen 10-foot Classic body with bottom entry and same-offer choice of 42-, 72- or 96-inch TreeHugger webbing, while making separate rain-cover and insulation plans.

The main tradeoff

The first custom step omits the rainfly included with standard M10, and its carrying weight is not established. Hennessy's page and comparison chart conflict on fabric type, and the builder and FAQ conflict on the maximum tree diameter paired with 96-inch straps. The 250-pound limit applies to the hammock body, not the full hang.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does the custom Expedition Classic include a body-integrated bug net?

The builder names an Expedition Classic body and the matching M10 model page lists attached mosquito mesh, including 30D No-See-Um netting. The bottom-entry closure is a body feature; the custom builder's first step still omits the stock rainfly.

Which TreeHugger lengths does the custom Classic offer, and how certain are the tree pairings?

The product record identifies 42-, 72- and 96-inch variants. The builder pairs them with 14-, 24- and 36-inch tree diameters, but Hennessy's FAQ gives 14-, 24- and 32-inch ceilings for those same strap lengths. Treat the last pairing as unresolved and confirm with the maker; neither source rates a full anchor system.

What body size and capacity does the custom Expedition Classic inherit?

Its matching M10 model page lists 120-by-59-inch lower fabric, a six-foot height limit and a 250-pound hammock-body limit. The 120-inch body length converts to 10 feet; these are maker-listed body figures, not a personal comfort guarantee or a rating for the ropes, webbing, trees or complete hang.

This assessment is about Hennessy Hammock’s US “Build Your Own Expedition Classic” offer, product 306421955, not the standard Expedition Classic M10 package. The custom page begins with the hammock body and one selected TreeHugger webbing option, but no rainfly. Its matching Classic model page supplies body specifications that the builder omits. This is a source-based review of those listings and the maker’s setup guidance; the hammock has not been personally owned, slept in, measured, or tested for this review.

What the custom package does—and does not—include

The first builder step pairs one Expedition Classic body with one of three webbing SKUs: P15+P212 for 42 inches, P15+P215 for 72 inches, or P15+P219 for 96 inches. They are strap-length choices around the same body rather than separate body sizes. Hennessy then offers rainflies and insulation as later, optional choices. Do not read “Expedition Classic” as proof that the stock M10 fly is in the custom cart.

That distinction separates this offer from standard Expedition Classic M10. The standard model page lists its stock rainfly and standard webbing; the custom first step explicitly orders without a fly. The custom page lists an Expedition Rainfly, two different silnylon rainfly choices and a 70D polyester Hex option. It separately lists a Double Bubble pad, the Classic SuperShelter #1 and an OverCover #1. Those are possible additional selections, not part of the initial hammock-plus-webbing configuration. If a complete overhead shelter is essential, confirm exactly which compatible fly is in the final order.

Classic entry and integrated mesh

The Expedition Classic uses bottom entry with a hook-and-loop closure rather than the Expedition Zip’s side zipper. Hennessy describes the closure as snapping shut under the occupant’s weight. Its model page also lists attached mosquito netting and 30D No-See-Um mesh, so the net is part of the hammock design rather than a separate overhead canopy. These features help identify the model; they are not a promise that every entry will feel convenient or that the screen solves rain or underbody heat loss.

The body retains the maker’s asymmetrical form and structural ridgeline. Hennessy’s comparison chart places Expedition Classic in the large, single-layer, 250-pound class. Classic entry is the defining difference from the otherwise similar Expedition Zip body; the two configurations must not be conflated when checking a seller’s model code or a used hammock’s closure. No personal comfort or insect-performance claim is made here.

Size and load figures are screening information

The standard Expedition Classic page lists 120 by 59 inches of lower fabric, a six-foot height limit and a 250-pound weight limit. Dividing 120 inches by 12 gives a listed body length of 10 feet. The fabric dimensions describe the hammock body, not clear sleeping space or a universal fit, and the capacity applies to the hammock rather than every strap, rope, tree, anchor or complete hang. Hennessy’s setup page gives a 12-to-25-foot tree-spacing recommendation for Expedition Asym models, which is a separate hanging-space instruction—not the body length or a guarantee that a particular campsite works.

Webbing length is a separate site-fit question. The builder pairs 42-, 72- and 96-inch choices with tree diameters up to 14, 24 and 36 inches. However, Hennessy’s FAQ gives 14, 24 and 32 inches for those same strap lengths. The exact selected lengths and SKUs are clear, but the maker’s 96-inch pairing is not. If that difference matters for the trees at a planned site, confirm the manufacturer’s current instructions before purchase rather than treating the larger figure as settled.

Material and weight claims need care

There is an unresolved first-party fabric disagreement: the Expedition Classic model page calls its hammock fabric 70D polyurethane-coated polyester ripstop, while Hennessy’s comparison chart labels the Expedition fabric 70D nylon. I would not rank this model on a definitive nylon-versus-polyester claim without manufacturer clarification. The chart is useful for comparing the maker’s published class, but it does not settle the discrepancy.

Weight is also not established for the custom body-plus-webbing offer. The Shopify record exposes a numeric variant weight but does not provide a clear unit or contents basis. Standard M10’s page lists a packed figure for a different, fly-equipped package and even gives inconsistent metric and imperial values; that figure should not be transferred to the custom no-fly step. There is no reliable custom-package carry weight to quote from the sources reviewed.

Who should compare it, and what to verify

This offer is worth comparing if you want a screened 10-foot Classic body and value choosing the webbing length in the same listing. It is a less complete initial package than standard M10 because the fly is not part of step one. Compare it with a Zip model only after deciding which entry mechanism you want, and compare the standard and custom versions separately for fly contents, strap choice and weight basis.

Before ordering, verify the exact product ID and selected P15+P212, P15+P215 or P15+P219 option; ask Hennessy to reconcile the 96-inch webbing/tree-diameter guidance if it affects your site; and confirm the final cart contains the rainfly and insulation you need. Read the model-specific setup instructions and check the complete support path and campsite rules. The body’s 250-pound figure is not a system rating, and the listed dimensions are not a personal-fit guarantee.
